Congratulations to local governments on LEMAs completion

23 May 2017

Congratulations to the three local governments that recently had their Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMAs) completed and noted by the State Emergency Management Committee (SEMC).

The three local governments are:

  • City of Joondalup

  • City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder

  • City of Fremantle

The SEMC noted the LEMAs for these three local governments during its 2 May 2017 meeting.

Under Section 41 of the Emergency Management Act 2005, a local government is to ensure that emergency management arrangements are in place for that local government area.

LEMAs are developed to provide a community focused, coordinated approach to the management of all potential emergencies within a local government area.

It is a requirement for each local government in Western Australia to provide access to their LEMA and to publish the current version on their website.
